We were thrilled to get up early in the morning to witness a beautiful sunrise at the private beach of the resort. We took our tripod for recording the beautiful sunrise. It was on the day of Winter Solstice and hence we could fix our camera exactly at that angle and wait for the beautiful sunrise to happen. At 0500 hrs we found our perfect spot and at 0535 hrs we witnessed the mesmerizing sunrise. It was so beautiful to see the sun come out at a distance, so close yet so far, from the horizon and with the waves and its sound it was so peaceful. Most of the inmates of the resort too joined us to witness this beautiful sunrise. It was also a beautiful photo-op moment. With all this memory we went for our freshening up and breakfast, post which we were to head to 2 amazing places before waving a goodbye to Shaheed Dweep.

The mesmerizing sunrise at Shaheed Dweep

After breakfast and checking out from the beautiful resort, which by the way did not have phone network and hence we were even more at peace and enjoyment, we proceeded to the natural bridge. This was a beautiful place where many corals formed the shore line and we walked over them to the sea. The tides hitting the corals and forming ponds here and there was beautiful. The bridge that was formed out of a single rock looked amazing. There were a lot of water species, varieties of fish, live corals, dead corals and so many more different living and dead habitats that formed this beach, which had so much to learn from. There are local tour guides in this beach who give a full explanation about the different types of habitats that are found in this beach. They explain clearly at different spots about each species and their types. It was a beautiful spot to take photos and enjoy the waves hitting us too through the corals. Wading through the corals and not getting our legs wet, was like a maze. Though we did get wet due the tides, we tried to find the drier corals to walk on just to have fun and make it look like a maze. There were different types of stones and rocks too found over there. After the walk in the beach, we could have some lime juice and lime soda in the shops near the beach, before reaching our parking area, from where we went to our next and last stop at Shaheed Dweep.

Our last stop at Shaheed Dweep was very close to the Jetty, from where we had to board the ferry back to Port Blair, with lots and lots of memories. It was Bharatpur Beach, where we headed to. At Bharatpur beach first we found a quiet spot under the shade of a tree and saw that the water was easily 50 to 60 metres away from the shore from where we were sitting at around 1100 hrs. Next to the place where we sat on the beach sand, there were many places for people to sit, under a hut, bamboo seats and normal old tree planks. It was a white sand beach with a lot of water sport activities available. The one that caught our eye, which we planned to do at around 1200 hrs, was the Glass Boat. After some quiet time, we went to the place where the water sport activities happened. We booked our glass boat ride, which was Rs. 800/- per person. We had to walk towards the boat in knee deep water to board. The boat had a glass in the base through which we could see what is present in the water and beneath. We were taken mid sea from there and the boat was stopped there. At this point, with the clear water and clean glass we could see the beautiful corals and underwater world. It was a beautiful sight to watch. Having seen the same through Scuba in a different proximity, this was another sight to behold in a different island. The corals were beautiful and of different shapes, sizes, colour and texture. There were many types of fish too. It was a beautiful 45 minute ride. Once we came back, we had lunch at the restaurants by the beach and came back to the same spot we sat before noon. We had a surprise when we came back. The tide had reversed direction and what looked like sand till 50 to 60 metre from there shore, was now filled with clear sea water in 3 shades of blue. We were totally surprised to see this and all the crabs carrying the shells were walking along the shore on the sands and forming their trails on the sand. It was an amazing sight to behold and see the last remaining sand portion get filled with sea water, hence completing the full tide reversal. After some nice pictures in the beach, we headed back with full memories to the Jetty to board our 3rd ferry, this time back to Port Blair. By the time we reached Port Blair it was only 1715 hrs, but the sun had set at 1700 hrs and it was pitch dark. We checked in to our hotel and were briefed about our next day’s itinerary. After some star gazing and dinner, we retired for the day with all the memories and thoughts of the last 3 days and the surprise we had this day, with the tide reversal.
